HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN 2023

HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN 2023

Congratulations you made it into 2023. I suspect that you have or you are taking stock of your achievements or otherwise in the year 2022, and you are probably asking the same questions I have been asking for the last couple of weeks; what can I do to guarantee a successful 2023?

What do I need to do differently?

What areas of my life do I need to improve upon?

How do I begin the process of improving my life for the better?

How do I make the most of the chances life offers in 2023? Etc.

Making the most of a situation is the expectation of everyone I suppose and for the fact that the year 2023 holds a lot of meaning for many of us especially Nigerians for obvious reasons. Irrespective of where you come from or where you are, the desire to be successful is common to us all.

The problem oftentimes is that our desires rest on virtually nothing but imaginations. I mean desires and passion are good but you have got to have concrete plans and light posts that guide you actions because ultimately they help you stay the course.

While this is not an exhaustive list, here are a few suggestions for making the most of the year 2023:

1.  1. Set clear goals for yourself: Consider what you want to accomplish in the year and make a plan for achieving those goals. This could include personal goals, such as improving your health or learning a new skill, or professional goals, such as advancing your career or starting a business. It is important to be specific about what you want to achieve. This will help you create a roadmap for success and stay focused on your priorities.

2.  2. Take care of yourself: Prioritize self-care: Success doesn't just come from working hard – it also requires taking care of yourself. Make sure to prioritize self-care and prioritize your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This could involve things like getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, eating a healthy diet, and finding ways to manage stress.

3. 3.  Stay organized: It's easy to get overwhelmed when you have a lot on your plate, so it's important to stay organized and on top of your responsibilities. Consider using tools like calendars, to-do lists, and project management software to help you stay organized and manage your time effectively.

4. 4.  Build relationships: Make an effort to connect with others and build strong relationships with friends, family, and colleagues. This could involve making time for social activities, volunteering, or simply spending time with loved ones.

5.  5. Learn something new: Consider taking on a new hobby or learning a new skill. This could involve enrolling in a class or finding online resources to help you learn.

6.  6. Keep learning: Never stop learning and growing – in the new year make continuous learning a habit. While it is plausible to learn a skill, it is highly commendable to improve, update on the skills you have learnt. Do not stop at basic course levels, look for the next improved and advanced courses. You may wish to take them at quarterly intervals. No matter how you do it, keeping building yourself.

7.  7Practice gratitude: Make an effort to focus on the positive things in your life and express gratitude for the people and experiences that bring you joy. This can help you cultivate a positive mindset and make the most of each day.

Welcome to 2023 and I wish you a wonderful year. Happy New Year.

LET GO!

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”
― Stephen King,

There is an increasing demand for the creativity of all living beings, both humans and animals. To fulfill this need, it seems that we must find a way to connect with our inner selves in order to tap into what lies within us. Without this connection, many people feel as though they are operating on automatic pilot- producing work without any real sense of attachment or inspiration. One possible solution may be found in the concept of "letting go." By allowing ourselves to relinquish control over specific aspects of our lives- we can free ourselves up to concentrate on other aspects that inspire us more deeply.

Spiritual hunger is seen in people from all walks of life. It can often be mistaken for zeal or a religious fervor. But, in reality, spiritual hunger is a longing for something more. It is a yearning for meaning and purpose in life. It can be found in people of all faiths and all walks of life. It is a hunger that can only be satisfied by uncovering the spiritual dimension of life.

In order to feed the spiritual hunger, we need to recognize it. We need to recognize the signs that indicate that we are hungry for something more. Some of the signs that indicate that someone is spiritual hungry are deep feelings of emptiness or loneliness. These feelings may be accompanied by thoughts of insignificance or a feeling of being lost. People who are spiritual hungry also often have a yearning for deeper connection to life. They may seek out spiritual guidance or search for meaning in their life beyond the physical realm.

The steps we need to take in order to give up the infernal groove are repentance and confession. Repentance is the acknowledgment that we have sinned and need to make amends. Confession is the act of communicating our sins and faults to another person. It allows us to gain forgiveness and understanding. Through repentance and confession, we can open ourselves up to the possibility of redemption. We can be forgiven and start fresh.

The spiritual hunger that we all experience is a powerful plea for something more in life. Recognizing the signs can help us to feed that hunger and find redemption.

SCHADENFREUDE: The Secret of Malicious Joy

Schadenfreude (/ˈʃɑːdənfrɔɪdə/; is a German term which means; the experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from getting to know about or witnessing the troubles, failures, or humiliation of another. Schadenfreude is a complicated emotion where, instead of feeling sympathy, one takes satisfaction from looking at a persons' misfortune. This emotion is displayed more in kids than adults. However, adults also revel in schadenfreude, even though usually they disguise it. Schadenfreude is a compound of Schaden, "damage, harm", and Freude, "joy". The German word was first cited in English texts in 1852 and 1867. Researchers have observed that there are 3 driving forces behind schadenfreude: aggression, social justice, and rivalry.

Schadenfreude can be both intentional and unintentional, but it almost always involves some degree of malicious joy. People who are ‘schadenfreudic’ enjoy watching others suffer, regardless of whether they have actually caused the suffering. Schadenfreude is often seen as an evil emotion because it leads people to feel pleasure from another person’s sorrowful experience without necessarily feeling any remorse themselves. In fact, many people believe that schadenfreude has negative consequences on our relationships with other humans and even animals.

Schadenfreude often feels visceral, like a kick to the stomach. It may cause a sense of excitement or arousal, or it may evoke sadness or pity. It can make you feel glad or happy, but more often than not, it is pleasureful.

While most people generally associate schadenfreude with negative emotions, a few people actually enjoy feeling malicious joy. They may find pleasure in witnessing someone's suffering or humiliation, or in making them feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. They may feel guilty or enjoy the sense of power that comes with causing someone harm. While these people may be rare, they illustrate the full range of schadenfreude expression.

There are many reasons why people might feel Schadenfreude. Maybe the person being hurt is someone the person dislikes or has a rival relationship with. Maybe the person witnessing the suffering is happy because they are enjoying the misery of others. Whatever the reason, feeling Schadenfreude is often unpleasant.

Self-esteem has a negative relationship with the frequency and intensity of schadenfreude experienced by an individual; individuals with less self-esteem tend to experience schadenfreude more frequently and intensely.

It is hypothesized that this inverse relationship is mediated through the human psychological inclination to define and protect their self- and in-group- identity or self-conception.  Specifically, for someone with high self-esteem, seeing another person fail may still bring them a small (but effectively negligible) surge of confidence because the observer's high self-esteem significantly lowers the threat they believe the visibly-failing human poses to their status or identity. Since this confident individual perceives that, regardless of circumstances, the successes and failures of the other person will have little impact on their own status or well-being, they have very little emotional investment in how the other person fares, be it positive or negative.

Conversely, for someone with low self-esteem, someone who is more successful poses a threat to their sense of self, and seeing this person fall can be a source of comfort because they perceive a relative improvement in their internal or in-group standing.

There is no easy answer when it comes to avoiding Schadenfreude. However, the best way to avoid feeling Schadenfreude is to try to stay emotionally neutral. That means not taking sides, and not investing too much emotion into the situation. By keeping our emotions in check, we can better focus on what is happening and make rational decisions.

Laughter might be a good medicine for the soul, laughing at someone else’ misfortune is not.

Olorun Agbaye - You Are Mighty Song by Nathaniel Bassey ft. Chandler Moore &Oba (Lyrics)

Wo ye ye ye oh oh
You are Mighty God
Mighty God, Wo ye ye ye oh oh

You are Good, you are kind
You are more than these
I'm lost for Words trying to describe you
Elohim, El-elyon, Aleselewi
Your Greatness is all I see
There is nothing you cannot do
There's no mountain you cannot move
If you have said it
Then you will do it

Cause You have a Track record
Of keeping Words
And you're not about
To stop doing it now

Olorun Agbaye oh
(You are Mighty oh)
Olorun Agbaye oh, oh
(You are Mighty oh)
Shebi iwo lo f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)
Shebi eyin le f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)
Olorun Agbaye oh,
(You are Mighty oh)

You are mighty o

By the Blood that you shed
We have overcome
Discharged and acquitted for life
Then you gave us the right
To your Holy Name
The center of Power and Strength
There is nothing you cannot Change
There's no bondage you cannot Break
If you have said it
Then you will do it

You have a Track record
Of keeping Words
And you're not about
To stop doing it now

Olorun Agbaye oh,
(You are mighty oh)
Olorun Agbaye oh, oh
(You are mighty oh)
Olorun agbaye oh
(You are mighty oh)
Olorun agbaye oh
(You are mighty oh)
Shebi iwo lo f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)
Shebi eyin le f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)
Sebi iwo lo f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)
Sebi iwo lo f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)

You are Mighty Oh,
(You are mighty Oh)
Mighty Oh,
(You are mighty Oh)
You are Mighty Oh
You are mighty Oh
You are Mighty Oh, (You are mighty Oh)

You are Mighty Oh

Shebi iwo lo f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)
Shebi eyin le f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)
Shebi iwo lo f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)
Shebi eyin le f'oju Orun
(S'aso bora)
Olorun Agbaye oh,
You are mighty oh

... Eulogy...

Mighty oh, oh, you are mighty oh

CAPABLE GOD- By; Judikay (Lyrics)

Uh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Capable God o

What can't you do?
What won't you do?
Nothing impossible
Nothing impossible
What can't you do?
What won't you do?
Nothing impossible with our God

You do not lie
You do not fail
What is hard for you to do?
It doesn't exist oh
It can never ever exist oh
You do not lie
You do not fail
What is hard for you to do?
It doesn't exist oh
It can never ever exist oh

According to your knowledge and your will for me
What you say you have done
I just need to align oh
Because you are not a man that changes your mind oh
Those that know you will trust in you
Not in Horses and chariots
By the arm of flesh
No man can prevail
No man, No man
No man, No man
My confidence is you
What is hard?
What is hard for you?
It can never exist oh

You do not lie
You do not fail
What is hard for you to do?
It doesn't exist oh
It can never ever exist oh
You do not lie
You do not fail
What is hard for you to do?
To do ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
It can never ever exist oh

Those that know you will trust in you
Not in Horses and chariots
By the arm of flesh
No man can prevail
Ask Abraham and Sarah
And the Woman with the issue of blood oh
Nothing nothing hard for you-you-you-you
(Ask Mama Hannah)
Ask Mama Hannah oh
Blind Bartimaeus
Make you go ask the Israelites
Absolutely nothing hard for you
No man, no man, no man
My confidence is you
What is hard?
What is hard for you? It can never exist oh

You do not lie
You do not fail
What is hard for you to do?
It doesn't exist oh
It can never ever exist oh
You do not lie
You do not fail
What is hard for you to do?
It doesn't exist oh
It can never ever exist oh

No no no no no
Capable God oh oh
It can never ever exist oh

BETWEEN MENTAL HEALTH AND PRODUCTIVITY

Mental health has been identified as an important factor in determining productivity. There is a growing body of research that supports the idea that working with people who are mentally healthy enhances workplace performance. Studies have also shown that employees who suffer from mental illness are more likely to experience absenteeism, lower job satisfaction and reduced productivity.

Mental health conditions have been with us throughout our lives, shaping each and every one of us in different ways. Some have more severe conditions that impact their day-to-day lives, while others have more subtle conditions that still impact their productivity, work-life balance, and general well-being. No two individuals are the same, and no two conditions are the same.

Mental health conditions can impact our ability to think straight, to focus, to stay calm and organized, and to carry out our usual day-to-day tasks. In many cases, mental health conditions can also lead to physical health conditions, as untreated mental health conditions can lead to emotional distress and an abuse of drugs and alcohol.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to managing and treating mental health conditions. However, there are many ways to improve work-life balance through better mental health. Some of these ways include seeking professional help, setting realistic goals and targets, sticking to a healthy diet and exercise routine, and seeking social support. By managing our mental health conditions and improving our overall productivity, we can better balance our work and personal lives.

MUTATION

Agebe Olonta Eineje

The road ahead is straight,
Passing through 'Brokenhopesville',
Inauspiciously strait,
Shadowy deceptions,
No light shines through the roof of pines,
For here, the sun is blind.

Mama said, youth' are days of light,
But mine are blight,
Nights with no endings,
Bleak as it peaks.

In the heat of  the conundrums
Friends like wax melts,
And as fiends pick on my soul,
I wet my bed with tears,

Like an incursion I feel change,

Creeping in on me,
I guess this is what you call 'mutation'
