Eclipsed in emotional forfeitures;
dragon fires and an avalanche of diatribes.
Personality corruption and dysfunctional normality,
Could these be his sins or the signs he prayed for?
He lay writhing in pain,
while the few sat over pots of honeyed porridge.
He is familiar with lack and intrepid courage.
He strives to reach higher nonetheless.
"Hold on!" "Be careful." To his ears,
they're rotten semantics and bad rhetoric.
And though he desires an end,
the curiosity to see what can still be, tugs harder.
Weeping is but for a time he remembers,
and after the storm will come the rain.
As surely as the night breaks into day,
every dark cloud, holds a silver lining.
This is the hope that keeps him trudging on.
This is the peace that passes human understanding.
